In Hautajärvi, the north greets you with the scent of the forest, wide skies and a slower pace. Summer light lingers above the trees, autumn colours brighten the trails and, on clear, dark nights, the northern lights may dance overhead. At Napapiiri Café, pause by the Arctic Circle sign, take a photo to remember your visit and let your thoughts wander towards the trail ahead.
From here, trails lead in two directions, each with its own adventures. The Karhunkierros Trail takes you towards the forests, rivers and rapids of Oulanka National Park. Heading north, the Topsakantaival Trail, part of the UKK Trail, leads towards Salla National Park and the fells of Sallatunturi. One starting point opens the way to two different journeys into northern nature.
Napapiiri Café is a place for plans before your hike and stories when you return. During our opening hours, settle in for a coffee, get ready for the trail or enjoy a break along the way.
